Stephen Curry scores 33 points to lead Warriors past Celtics 132-126 in overtime

Stephen Curry shot a high-arcing 3-pointer through the net in front of his jubilant, frenzied Warriors teammates who were sitting on the bench. It was just like the ones he practices often throughout his lengthy pregame ritual.
Indeed, the superstar signaled his departure by gesturing with both hands at the side of his cheek, bidding farewell to the crowd. "It was like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow," exclaimed rookie Tracye Jackson-Davis, who played a crucial role in the Warriors' victory over the Boston Celtics. With a key block against Jaylen Brown and his first double-double of the season, Jackson-Davis contributed 10 points and 13 rebounds to the team's 132-126 triumph in overtime on Tuesday night.
In the final moments of the game, Stephen Curry received a skip pass from Chris Paul, who had secured an offensive rebound. With just 12 seconds left in overtime, Curry drained a remarkable three-pointer, adding to his impressive 33-point performance. Golden State executed timely plays and defensive stops, putting an end to Boston's five-game winning streak.
Coach Steve Kerr expressed his admiration for Curry's incredible shot, stating, "Nothing surprises me with Steph. That shot was unbelievable—the catch-and-shoot, the arc. But I had complete faith that it would go in, and I believe all our fans did too. The guy is simply magical. I can't explain it. That's just the kind of extraordinary things he does."
Jonathan Kuminga's steal and uncontested dunk gave the Warriors the lead in overtime. He then secured a crucial rebound on the other end, leading to another scoring opportunity. Meanwhile, the Celtics squandered multiple key chances when it mattered most.
Klay Thompson's game-tying three-pointer with 2:18 remaining in regulation was answered by Derrick White's deep shot. However, Curry swiftly responded with a three-pointer from the top, leveling the score at 121. The Celtics missed four shots on their next possession and failed to convert before the buzzer sounded, forcing the game into overtime.
Unfortunately for Boston, they missed several crucial opportunities in the final minute of overtime. Jaylen Brown finished with 28 points, while Derrick White contributed 30 points in what was only the Celtics' second loss in their last ten games (20-6).
Jayson Tatum added 15 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists as the Celtics embarked on a four-game trip in California.
Boston's star forward left the court in the first quarter, favoring his left ankle, but returned later in the game. This was a positive development for the Celtics, especially with Kristaps Porzingis, their 7-foot-3 big man, resting due to a strained left calf.
During the game, Thompson scored 24 points, including a crucial 3-pointer in the fourth quarter that brought the Warriors within four points. Over his last four games, he has been in good form, shooting 36 of 71 from the field, a significant improvement since December 12th when he scored only seven points on 2-for-10 shooting against Phoenix.
Coach Kerr praised Thompson for his recent shot selection, which has positively impacted the team's performance. Additionally, Thompson reached a career milestone by making his 2,291st career 3-pointer, surpassing Vince Carter for eighth place on the NBA's all-time list.
Stephen Curry also had a strong performance, scoring 11 for 21 with six 3-pointers, despite dealing with numerous fouls. However, his streak of consecutive games with at least one 3-pointer ended at 268 in a previous game against Portland.
The Warriors faced challenges during the game, playing without rookie guard Brandin Podziemski in the second half due to a strained lower back. Despite this, they managed to secure the victory.
Chris Paul contributed nine points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds for the Suns, showing resilience after dealing with a fever and illness.
Looking ahead, the Celtics will face the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night to complete a back-to-back, while the Warriors will host the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
