Stewart Dominates with 38 Points as Liberty Cruise Past Lynx 111-76; Vandersloot Achieves 4,000-Point Milestone

Breanna Stewart's outstanding performance led the New York Liberty to a decisive 111-76 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday night. Stewart, who recorded 38 points and 11 rebounds, achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the sixth WNBA player to score a minimum of 35 points in four games within a season. Courtney Vandersloot also made a milestone as she crossed the 4,000-point mark in her career.

Stewart's remarkable display of skill allowed her to achieve this scoring milestone in just three quarters of play. Her achievement was notable not only for the high point tally but also for her efficiency, considering she accomplished it in less than 27 minutes on the court. In addition, Stewart set a record for the most points scored in a game by a player with under 27 minutes of play, surpassing the previous best held by Lauren Jackson.

Sabrina Ionescu contributed 19 points for the Liberty (27-7), showcasing her prowess from beyond the arc with three 3-pointers. Her performance propelled her to second place on the single-season WNBA list for 3-pointers made. Courtney Vandersloot and Betnijah Laney both contributed 15 points to the Liberty's impressive victory.

Vandersloot's milestone was a significant highlight of the match, as she joined the elite company of players like Sue Bird who have achieved 4,000 points, 2,500 assists, and 1,000 rebounds during their WNBA careers.

The Liberty's offensive prowess was evident as they reached the 100-point mark for the sixth time this season. Their shooting accuracy, particularly from beyond the arc, was a key factor in their commanding victory. They made 12 of 27 attempts from 3-point range and maintained an overall shooting accuracy of 55% (41 of 74), while also converting all 17 of their free throws. The team came close to equaling their franchise record for points in a game, falling just five points short.

The Lynx, on the other hand, struggled to contain the Liberty's offensive onslaught. Diamond Miller's 18 points and Aerial Powers' 15 points were notable contributions for the Lynx (17-18).

The New York Liberty's comprehensive performance, led by Breanna Stewart's outstanding scoring and Courtney Vandersloot's milestone achievement, secured a convincing victory over the Minnesota Lynx.
