Sven Botman ruled out for up to nine months

Newcastle suffered a major setback on Wednesday when it was disclosed that defender Sven Botman might be out of action for the remainder of the year due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Newcastle confirmed that Sven Botman will have surgery next week due to a knee injury sustained during the match against Manchester City.

The scan revealed an ACL injury, with an expected recovery time of six to nine months. The club wishes him a full and speedy recovery.

Injuries to key players have significantly impacted Newcastle's season, despite their strong finish in the previous Premier League campaign.

Despite reaching the Champions League for the first time in two decades, the Magpies were eliminated in the group stage.
