Ten Hag's Future in Doubt After Manchester United's Draw at Aston Villa, Tottenham Suffers Collapse

Despite Ten Hag’s insistence that he and the club’s leadership remain "on one page," speculation over his future continues to mount.

United heads into the international break in 14th place in the Premier League, having won just two of their opening seven matches. The pressure on Ten Hag has intensified, especially with no public backing from minority owner Jim Ratcliffe, who notably sidestepped questions about his confidence in the Dutch coach last Friday.

“We know what we are working toward — it is a long-term project, and we have to keep improving the process,” Ten Hag said after the match, but the result at Villa may not provide much reassurance to United’s hierarchy.

Playing in front of Ratcliffe and other club executives, United’s best chance came from a Bruno Fernandes free kick that hit the crossbar in the 68th minute. Despite Villa largely dominating the game, United held on to earn a point, a respectable result after their recent 3-0 loss to Tottenham.

“We proved in two tough away games that this is a team,” Ten Hag added, referencing United’s back-to-back draws, including the 3-3 Europa League result against Porto. However, with a two-week break ahead, the United board will have time to assess whether they believe Ten Hag can turn things around.
