Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers declares for 2025 NFL Draft

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers (21) officially announced his declaration for the NFL Draft on Thursday, positioning himself as a potential candidate for a franchise quarterback role for an NFL team.
Ewers guided the Texas Longhorns to a semi-final appearance in the College Football Playoff this season, although the team ultimately lost to his former institution, Ohio State, concluding their campaign.
During his three-year tenure at Texas, Ewers compiled a record of 21 wins and 5 losses, amassing 9,128 passing yards and 68 touchdown passes. This season, he fell just eight yards short of achieving a personal best in passing yards, finishing with 3,472.
His total of 33 touchdowns marked an increase from the 27 he recorded in 2023; however, his interceptions rose significantly from six in 2023 to twelve this past season. Ewers' quarterback rating of 75.5 placed him 21st among all FBS quarterbacks.
The native of Southlake, Texas, is being considered as a potential day-two selection by various draft analysts, although his stock may have diminished following a challenging performance against Ohio State, where he completed only 59% of his passes, was sacked four times, rushed for -18 yards, and threw an interception.
ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper ranks Ewers as the fifth quarterback on his list ahead of the draft. However, opinions regarding Ewers' draft prospects vary widely, influenced by differing analyses in the media.
Ewers will be joined by teammates Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, Kelvin Banks Jr., and Jaydon Blue, all of whom have also declared for this year's draft.
Arch Manning, the grandson of Archie Manning and nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, is set to assume the starting quarterback position for the team after confirming his decision to remain at Texas.
