Thiago Motta pleased with Juventus' first performance against Como

Juventus head coach Thiago Motta (41) expressed his satisfaction with his new squad following a commanding 3-0 victory over Como in their Serie A opener on Monday.
The team delivered a strong performance, securing the win against the newly-promoted Como, with goals from Samuel Mbangula, Timothy Weah, and Andrea Cambiaso at the Allianz Stadium.
"I was pleased with both the performance and the outcome. We earned this victory," Motta stated during a press conference.
"I appreciated our defensive organization, the timing of our pressing, and the attackers' commitment, particularly Dusan (Vlahovic) in initiating the first press.
"I am content, but there is room for improvement, and we will strive to enhance every aspect. I believe this team has the potential to achieve that."
Having won nine consecutive championships from 2012 to 2020, Juventus is looking for a new beginning under the Italian-Brazilian coach, whose primary goal is to secure the club's first Serie A title in four years.
"Humility is essential," Motta remarked. "Just like Dusan today, who dropped back to help solidify the team... we performed well against a strong opponent that arrived with significant enthusiasm.
"We approached the match with the necessary respect, defending collectively; when in possession, we have players of exceptional quality who understand the game well, and we executed effectively throughout the match."
Motta also commended Serbian Vlahovic, who created several opportunities and had a goal disallowed for offside.
"Dusan had an outstanding performance both with and without the ball; he is a crucial player for us who undoubtedly relies on the team," Motta added.
Vlahovic had the opportunity to extend Juventus' lead just prior to halftime with a free-kick, but Como goalkeeper Pepe Reina made a crucial save. Moments later, the 24-year-old striker struck the far post.
"We must recover from this match, restore our energy, and concentrate on the upcoming game against Hellas Verona," Motta stated.
"We are set to encounter a challenging opponent, as they showcased on the opening day, and it is imperative that we perform well."
Verona, who concluded the previous season in 13th place, delivered a surprising 3-0 victory over Napoli at home on Sunday, with Dailon Livramento scoring first and Daniel Mosquera netting twice.
