Tom Brady Gets NFL Approval to Buy Stake in Las Vegas Raiders

Seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady, aged 47, received approval on Tuesday from NFL team owners to join the ownership group of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Having completed 23 seasons in the NFL before his retirement in 2022, Brady will acquire a five percent ownership stake in the Raiders, who currently hold a 2-4 record this season.

This approval, granted during an owners meeting in Atlanta, concludes an 18-month process that began with initial reports of Brady's interest in acquiring a share of the team's ownership.

Reportedly, delays in finalizing the deal were due to determining the exact percentage of ownership for Brady and addressing concerns related to his role as an NFL television analyst for Fox Sports.

Two months prior, the NFL imposed certain restrictions on Brady's broadcasting privileges due to his potential involvement with the Raiders.

As a result, Brady is prohibited from attending in-person or online production meetings and is restricted from accessing players, coaches, or team facilities.

Although he is allowed to broadcast Raiders games, Brady must adhere to NFL regulations that prevent him from criticizing other teams or officials.

Brady, who spent 20 seasons with the New England Patriots and secured six NFL championships, won his final title with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020.

He holds NFL career records with 7,753 completions out of 12,050 attempts, totaling 89,214 yards and 649 touchdowns.
