Tom Kim apologizes for damaging locker following DP World Tour loss

South Korean golfer Tom Kim issued an apology on Tuesday for causing damage to a locker following a missed opportunity to secure victory at his home DP World Tour event over the weekend.
Ranked 25th in the world, Kim failed to convert an eight-foot putt for the win at the final hole of the Genesis Championship, held at the Jack Nicklaus Club in Incheon, near Seoul, on Sunday.
Subsequently, he lost in a sudden-death playoff to compatriot An Byeong-hun but displayed commendable sportsmanship in his defeat.
A social media post later revealed that the door to his locker was detached from its hinges.
"Yes, I was frustrated after the loss, absolutely," Kim stated on Instagram.
"However, I can assure you that I had no intention of causing any damage to the locker whatsoever."
"I immediately communicated with the DP World Tour and the KPGA regarding the incident, explaining that the door had come off," Kim continued.
"We had to remove it entirely for safety reasons. I also expressed my willingness to cover all costs associated with the damage."
According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, the Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA) may consider disciplinary measures against Kim.
"Following my apology and my offer to compensate for the damage, I believed the matter was resolved," Kim added, extending a message to his supporters.
"I am thankful to everyone who has reached out with words of encouragement, and to those I may have disappointed, I sincerely apologize."
