Torino 3-0 Napoli: Champions suffer disappointing loss at Torino as title defence takes another setback

Following a disappointing loss to Fiorentina in their previous match, Torino started the game with a strong offensive approach. In just five minutes, Duvan Zapata's first-time shot from a distance was mishandled by Pierluigi Gollini, giving Torino an early advantage.
However, Nikola Vlasic missed a great opportunity to increase his goal tally for the season by shooting over the crossbar from close range.
Giacomo Raspadori had Napoli's best chance of the first half, but his shot went straight at Vanja Milinkovic-Savic after an impressive passing sequence.
The reigning champions, Napoli, are struggling to defend their Serie A title and found themselves trailing just two minutes before halftime. Antonio Sanabria capitalized on Zapata's clever flick-on from a free-kick routine to score his third goal of the season.
Napoli made a substitution at halftime, bringing on Pasquale Mazzocchi for his debut in the hopes of turning their fortunes around. However, his debut was cut short as he was shown a red card after just five minutes for a high challenge that missed the ball and caught his opponent.
What started as a terrible start for Napoli turned into a nightmare when Vlasic extended Torino's lead by scoring from outside the box, with Zapata providing another assist.
Zapata himself came close to scoring, but his shot was brilliantly saved off the goal line by Gollini after Sanabria had hit the post.
Shortly after, Torino scored their third goal from a corner. Valentino Lazaro delivered a dangerous cross, and Alessandro Buongiorno headed the ball into the net, securing an impressive third goal of the season for the center-back.
Napoli failed to mount a comeback, and Torino comfortably secured the victory. This win marked Torino's fourth victory in their last five home league matches, propelling them to 10th place in the standings, just behind Napoli.
The hosts further shattered their own personal head-to-head curse against their present adversaries, securing their initial victory in a series of nine matches against them. This outcome has left the Neapolitans contemplating their woefully unsuccessful attempt at defending their title.
