Tottenham 1-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers: Wasteful Spurs shocked by Wolves as Joao Gomes bags brace in away win

Wolverhampton Wanderers achieved a league double against Tottenham Hotspur, marking only the third occasion in their history. Their impressive 2-1 victory put an end to Tottenham's streak of five consecutive home wins in the Premier League.
Both squads witnessed the return of their South Korean stars to the starting line-ups, with Son Heung-Min and Hwang Hee-Chan featuring for their respective teams. However, it was the Wolves forward who had a chance to score in the sixth minute.
Nelson Semedo saw his shot saved by Guglielmo Vicario before Hwang missed a golden opportunity from close range. Despite the Spurs gradually asserting control and dominating possession, the Wolves' solid defensive set-up proved tough to break.
The breakthrough came for Wolves just before halftime when Joao Gomes headed in Pablo Sarabia's corner kick, leaving the hosts trailing 1-0 at the break for a second successive home game.
After an equalizer by Dejan Kulusevski less than a minute into the second half, Spurs looked to push for a second goal. However, it was Wolves who scored next, with Joao Gomes netting his second of the game on the hour mark.
Despite making changes to their side, Spurs failed to find another goal as Wolves came close to extending their lead through a chance created by Pedro Neto.
As a result, the Spurs' attempts at making changes proved futile, as O'Neill's team secured consecutive wins during their trips to London after their remarkable performance against Chelsea.
This achievement propelled them to the 10th position in the standings. In contrast, Tottenham suffered a setback in their pursuit of a top-four finish, as Aston Villa emerged victorious over Fulham, causing them to lose ground.
