Tottenham Hotspur Suffers Late Defeat to Wolves

In the aftermath of Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Wolves, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou attributed the loss to fielding a second-string team, emphasizing the absence of the fluency that had propelled them to the top.

Despite taking an early lead, Spurs succumbed to two stoppage-time goals, denying them the Premier League's summit and marking their second consecutive defeat.

Postecoglou, while expressing disappointment, refrained from placing blame on those with limited playing time this season, commending the players' effort and commitment.

The makeshift starting lineup, necessitated by injuries and suspensions, included three regular defenders missing from the back four, impacting the team's cohesion.

Acknowledging the challenging nature of the game at Wolves, Postecoglou highlighted the need for a more positive and aggressive approach with the ball, tempered by the numerous changes in the lineup. He noted that the lack of fluency was inevitable, particularly when key defenders were virtually starting for the first time.

Many of the players, according to Postecoglou, had not seen significant playing time recently, leading to a cautious approach as they aimed to secure the early lead through to the end of the game.

On the other side, Wolves boss Gary O'Neil expressed immense pride in his squad, considering it their best performance since he took charge just days before the season began. Despite being 1-0 down after 85 minutes, O'Neil praised the team's understanding of the game plan and their exceptional mentality.

The two late goals not only secured victory but also served as a testament to the squad's overall performance, leaving O'Neil pleased and confident that the fans enjoyed the display.
