UEFA Champions League: Inter Milan edge Arsenal 1-0 with Calhanoglu Penalty, Atletico Madrid stun PSG late

In a thrilling Champions League evening, Inter Milan edged out Arsenal with a 1-0 win, courtesy of a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty, while Atletico Madrid delivered a dramatic 93rd-minute goal to secure a 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in Paris.

Inter Milan vs Arsenal

Inter Milan, sitting in fifth with 10 points in the new Champions League league phase, remain undefeated after securing a narrow victory over Arsenal at the San Siro. The Italian champions gained the advantage after a controversial penalty call against Arsenal's Mikel Merino, who was penalized for a handball after Mehdi Taremi’s flick brushed his raised arm. Calhanoglu calmly converted from the spot in first-half stoppage time, putting Inter ahead.

In the second half, Arsenal increased pressure, nearly equalizing when Gabriel Magalhaes’s close-range effort was blocked by Yann Sommer and Denzel Dumfries. Despite their best efforts, Arsenal couldn’t break down Inter’s formidable defense, marking their first Champions League loss this season.

“This decision was incredibly harsh," Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told TNT Sports. "There was no deflection, nothing he could do in the box."

Atletico Madrid vs PSG

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid stunned Paris Saint-Germain in stoppage time with a goal from Angel Correa, taking a 2-1 win back to Spain. Warren Zaire-Emery put PSG in the lead on 14 minutes, but Nahuel Molina quickly leveled the score for Atletico four minutes later.

PSG controlled possession but left themselves vulnerable in the final moments. A quick throw from Jan Oblak set up Antoine Griezmann to find Correa on the break, who netted the game-winner past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Atletico now sits with two Champions League wins, while PSG finds itself in the elimination zone with a challenging path forward, facing Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the coming rounds.
