UEFA Europa League roundup: Aubameyang breaks goalscoring record as Marseille edge past Shaktar, Milan hold on to qualify despite defeat

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang broke the all-time UEFA Europa League goal scoring record as Marseille defeated Shakhtar Donetsk to advance to the round of 16.

After equaling Radamel Falcao's record in the first leg, which ended 2-2, the striker broke it with his 31st goal in the competition, canceling out Georgiy Sudakov's early opener and bringing the Ligue 1 side back level in the tie.

With the game heading into extra time, Aubamyenag's deft touch set up Ismaila Sarr to slam home from 10 yards, putting Marseille ahead, before Geoffrey Kondogbia added a brilliant third from close range.

AC Milan went into the second leg with a three-goal lead over Stade Rennais and survived a five-goal thriller in France to advance to the round of 16, despite a 3-2 defeat.

Milan's Luka Jovic and Rafael Leao were on target, while the hosts' Benjamin Bourigeaud scored three goals.

After a 1-1 draw in the second leg at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday, AS Roma needed a penalty shootout to defeat Feyenoord.

Santiago Gimenez and Lorenzo Pellegrini scored for either side, as Feyenoord's early lead was quickly wiped out.

Romelu Lukaku missed his spot kick, but Roma advanced to the next round with a 4-2 penalty shootout victory.

With everything to play for in Germany after a goalless first leg, David Costa and Elye Wahi scored in the first half to give RC Lens the advantage.

SC Freiburg fought back with two scrappy efforts from Roland Sallai, the first stabbed in from close range before the Hungarian scored after a goalmouth scramble.

Michael Gregoritsch put Freiburg ahead for the first time in the tie in extra time, completing the comeback and propelling the Germans into the last 16.

Qarabag FK defeated Braga with ten players in a five-goal thriller to advance to the last 16, while Galatasaray were eliminated after losing in Prague, Benfica held on to defeat Toulouse, and Sporting advanced comfortably despite a draw.
