Unity Cup 2025: Super Eagles beat Reggae Boyz to retain title

The Super Eagles of Nigeria held their nerve in a dramatic 5–4 penalty shootout victory over the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica, following a 2-2 draw in regular time, to retain their Unity Cup crown.

This hard-fought final capped off a spirited tournament performance and saw the debut of three fresh talents in Nigeria’s growing squad depth.

Simon and Chukwueze on Target as Super Eagles Battle to Draw

The Super Eagles dominated the early stages and were rewarded in the 9th minute when Moses Simon stabbed home Cyriel Dessers’ cross from the right to open the scoring.

But Jamaica responded just three minutes later, with Kaheim Dixon delivering a pinpoint low cross for Jonathan Russell to slot home and level the score at 1-1.

  • 53’ – Samuel Chukwueze restored Nigeria’s lead after a neat pass from Nathan Tella, cutting into the box before driving a low shot into the bottom corner.
  • 63’ – Russell, left unmarked inside the area, capitalized on poor defending to lash home the second equalizer from another left-wing delivery.
