Usyk knocks out Daniel Dubois to become Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion

Usyk, now holding the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF heavyweight titles, delivered a near-perfect performance before a sold-out crowd of 90,000 spectators. The triumph sees him extend his unbeaten professional record to 24 wins in 24 fights, and adds the coveted IBF belt, previously held by Dubois, to his already impressive collection.
Usyk vs Dubois: A Masterclass at Wembley
Despite entering the ring as the older fighter at 38, Usyk showcased elite movement, ring IQ, and punching precision that neutralized Dubois’ youthful aggression. From the opening bell, the Ukrainian controlled the pace, landing jabs and combinations that repeatedly found their target.
Early in round five, Usyk dropped Dubois to the canvas with a sharp, clean strike. The final moment came just under two minutes into the round—at 1:52—as Usyk landed his trademark left hook, sending Dubois to the mat for good. The referee’s count confirmed the outcome: Usyk had officially become the undisputed heavyweight boxing champion of the world.

This bout marked the second meeting between the two heavyweights. Their first encounter in Krakow, Poland in 2023 ended in controversy after Dubois was ruled to have landed an illegal low blow in the fifth round, temporarily stopping the fight. Usyk went on to win that match via ninth-round stoppage, but debate lingered over the legitimacy of the blow.
This time, however, there was no controversy. Just an emphatic, clinical finish that silenced any remaining doubts.
A Legacy sealed: Usyk talks future, retirement, and family
Following the win, an emotional Usyk dropped to his knees, overcome by the magnitude of the achievement. Speaking ringside, he said:
“Thirty-eight is a young guy, remember! This is only the start. But right now, I want to rest, my wife, my family, my children. I need two or three months to just rest.”
When asked about potential opponents, Usyk remained vague but mentioned Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Derek Chisora, and Joseph Parker as possibilities. Notably, Usyk has already defeated Fury in a unification bout and has bested Joshua twice in the past.
Daniel Dubois: "I'll Be Back"
Despite the loss, Dubois remained gracious in defeat and expressed his intent to bounce back stronger.
“Take nothing away from that man. I gave everything I had. I have to commend him on the performance… I’ll be back.”
What’s next for the Heavyweight Division?
Usyk’s dominance now places him firmly in the company of all-time greats like Lennox Lewis, the last undisputed heavyweight champion from Britain, crowned in 1999. Lewis had predicted that Dubois would pose a greater threat this time around, citing his growth and maturity. But Usyk’s control of the bout from start to finish proved otherwise.
As boxing fans around the world celebrate this milestone, questions loom over who can dethrone Usyk, or if he will choose to retire at the peak of his powers.
