Quebec City's Béatrice Lamarche celebrated a bronze medal finish, clocking in at 1:59.08. Her performance added depth to an already impressive display of talent in the women's 1,500-meter race.
Maltais expressed her satisfaction with her race, stating, "My race was really good today. I think I haven't skated under a 1:58.00 since before the Olympics, so I'm really happy that I focused on that a little bit more this summer because I wanted to be back in the World Cups and I want to build from that race and just get better."
The men's 1,500-meter race saw Connor Howe, representing Canmore, Alberta, clinching the gold medal with an impressive time of 1:43.16. This marked Howe's second gold medal of the championships, following his victory in the 1,000 meters, as well as a silver medal finish in the 5,000 meters.
Antoine Gélinas-Beaulieu of Sherbrooke, Quebec, secured the silver medal with a time of 1:43.82, while David La Rue from Saint-Lambert, Quebec, earned the bronze medal, completing the race in 1:44.66.
After securing his victory, Connor Howe shared his plans, saying, "The mass start tomorrow, I don't really have a plan to race that if I can make it, but I'll try to have fun with that one and then kind of focus on the 1,000m, 1500m team pursuit this year at the World Cups."
