Verstappen 'likes' post criticizing Red Bull's decision to drop Liam Lawson

Max Verstappen of Red Bull has expressed his approval by 'liking' an Instagram post from former Formula 1 driver Giedo van der Garde, who criticized the team for replacing New Zealander Liam Lawson just two races into the season.
Lawson's return to the sister team, Racing Bulls, in exchange for Yuki Tsunoda, means that Verstappen will have his third different teammate in just four races when they compete in Japan next week.
Van der Garde, a Dutch driver who participated in 19 races for the now-defunct Caterham team in 2013, voiced his frustration with the ongoing expectation to perform under pressure or face repercussions.
"Yes, you gotta perform. Yes, the pressure is insane. But in my opinion this comes closer to bullying or a panic move than actual high athlete achievements," he said.
"They made a decision - fully aware - gave Liam two races only to crush his spirit.
"Don't forget the dedication, hard work and success Liam has put in his career so far to achieve the level where he is now... yes, he underperformed the first two races - but if anyone's aware of that it's himself."
Van der Garde encouraged Lawson to "have confidence in yourself, hold your head high, and demonstrate that they are mistaken."
Those who liked the post included Verstappen's Instagram account and that of former Red Bull driver Pierre Gasly, who also lost his place alongside the now-four time world champion in 2019.
Reports from Dutch media indicate that Verstappen, who has not made a direct statement, expressed dissatisfaction with the choice to replace Lawson.
