VfB Stuttgart 1-4 Paris Saint-Germain: PSG seal play-off spot with commanding victory over Stuttgart on final matchday

Paris Saint-Germain secured their advancement to the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) with a decisive 4-1 victory over Stuttgart, who narrowly missed qualification by just one point on the final matchday.

Following a remarkable comeback against Manchester City, where they overturned a two-goal deficit to win 4-2, PSG quickly established their superiority against Stuttgart.

Les Parisiens opened the scoring within six minutes as Bradley Barcola capitalized on a corner from Desire Doue, marking the fastest goal of their UCL campaign.

Gianluigi Donnarumma then made an impressive save to thwart Chris Fuhrich's attempt, but Barcola soon turned from scorer to provider, assisting Ousmane Dembele for an easy tap-in during a counterattack, doubling PSG's advantage.

Shortly thereafter, Fabian Bredlow made a crucial goalline save to keep Stuttgart in the match by denying Doue, yet he was powerless to stop Dembele, who unleashed a stunning shot into the top left corner after receiving a pass from Joao Neves, leaving the hosts three goals down before halftime.

Sebastian Hoenel’s squad returned from the break with determination, but their efforts proved ineffective as Dembele extended PSG's lead, completing his hat-trick with a brilliant first-time shot into the top corner following a clever one-two with Achraf Hakimi.

With the match effectively decided, Stuttgart managed to score a consolation goal late in the game through Fuhrich, who converted Maximilian Mittelstadt’s precise cross into the bottom right corner, preventing PSG from achieving a clean sheet for the sixth consecutive match in all competitions.

A comeback was never truly feasible, as Stuttgart's defeat meant they exited the UCL with 10 points from eight matches. Les Parisiens celebrated their first competitive victory against Stuttgart, extending their unbeaten run to 13 matches across all competitions, with their last defeat occurring against Bayern Munich in late November.
