Virgil van Dijk signs new Liverpool contract until 2027

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has officially signed a new long-term deal that will keep him at Anfield until the summer of 2027, putting an end to speculation surrounding his future at the club.
The Dutch defender’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season, but the Reds have now secured the services of their inspirational leader for two more years, following closely after Mohamed Salah’s own contract extension.
Van Dijk: “It was always Liverpool”
In an exclusive interview with LiverpoolFC.com, the 32-year-old expressed his joy and commitment to the club:
“I’m very happy, very proud. There are so many emotions obviously that go through my head right now speaking about it. It was always Liverpool. That was the case. It was always in my head, it was always the plan and it was always Liverpool. Someone called me the other day an adopted Scouser – I’m really proud to hear these things. It gives me a great feeling.”
Van Dijk’s Legacy at Liverpool So Far
