We must approach Argentina without fear says Jesse Marsch

Canada's head coach, Jesse Marsch, expressed his desire for his team to exhibit fearlessness when they face Lionel Messi's Argentina in the opening match of the Copa America on Thursday.

Marsch, a former coach of RB Leipzig and Leeds United, acknowledged the challenge of containing Messi, an eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, who is set to lead the World Cup champions in their quest to defend their continental title.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Marsch emphasized the importance of an organized and disciplined team, coupled with aggression and fearlessness in their approach to the game.

He highlighted Messi's unique ability to move around the field intelligently, making him a constant threat.

Despite having limited time to prepare for the tournament, Marsch is aware of the challenge posed by Messi and stressed the need for his team to be vigilant and close down space effectively.

Canada will also compete against Peru and Chile in Group A of the tournament, which features teams from South America, North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
