“We Will Get It Done”: Real Madrid Rally Fans Ahead of Arsenal Second Leg After 3-0 Defeat

Real Madrid’s Champions League crown is under serious threat following a stunning 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the quarter-final first leg at the Emirates Stadium. But despite the setback, Los Blancos remain defiant, leaning on their rich history of dramatic comebacks as they prepare to host the return leg at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Declan Rice’s Double Sinks Madrid
Arsenal took full control of the tie on Tuesday night, with Declan Rice netting two world-class free-kicks and Mikel Merino adding a third, giving the Gunners a commanding advantage ahead of next week’s decisive clash. For long stretches, Real Madrid seemed to be executing their usual strategy — absorbing pressure and waiting for their attacking stars to counter. But Rice's brilliance shifted the narrative completely.

Even Madrid's usually composed goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, who made several superb saves earlier in the match, was left helpless as Rice’s pinpoint set-pieces found the back of the net. The defeat marks Madrid’s 11th loss of the season, a far cry from their near-invincible form last year.
“This Is Real Madrid – We Believe in Miracles”
Despite the crushing result, Real Madrid’s camp is projecting unwavering confidence. “We’re totally convinced we can turn it around — this is Real Madrid,” said defender Raul Asencio.
“With our fans, our pitch, our history… next Wednesday will be a different story,” added Lucas Vázquez, speaking to Movistar.
The Bernabéu faithful are no strangers to improbable turnarounds. From the 2022 comeback against PSG, when Karim Benzema scored a quickfire hat-trick, to late heroics against Chelsea and Manchester City, the Spanish giants have made the impossible possible before.
“We have to score early and believe. If we get one or two quickly, anything is possible,” said Courtois.
Signs of Concern Within the Camp
Yet, beneath the bravado, cracks are starting to show.
Vinicius Jr. has been struggling to find form, and although Kylian Mbappe showed flashes of brilliance, he can’t carry the team alone. To make matters worse, Eduardo Camavinga will miss the second leg due to suspension — a significant blow to Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield setup.
“We’ll need something special,” admitted Jude Bellingham, who created Madrid’s best chances in the first leg.
“Of course we can [turn it around],” said Mbappe, exuding calm confidence.
Arsenal Hold the Upper Hand
Mikel Arteta’s side delivered a tactically disciplined performance, allowing Madrid minimal space to exploit. Even without injured centre-back Gabriel Magalhães, Arsenal’s backline stood firm, shutting down Mbappe and Vinicius with ease.
Now, with a three-goal cushion, Arsenal has the luxury of playing more conservatively in Madrid. Their solid defensive approach could frustrate Madrid’s forwards again, making a comeback even more challenging.
But Ancelotti remains optimistic: “In football, anything can happen.”
What’s Next?
The return leg at the Santiago Bernabéu is set for Wednesday, April 17, and will determine whether Real Madrid can add another unforgettable comeback to their European legacy — or if Arsenal will march into the semi-finals and deepen Madrid’s woes.
