Wimbledon 2025 announces record-breaking $73 Million Prize Pool, Singles Champions to earn $4 Million each

The All England Club has confirmed that Wimbledon 2025 will feature a record £53.5 million prize pool (approximately $73 million USD), marking a 7% increase from last year’s total and doubling the prize money from a decade ago.

In a landmark announcement made Thursday, officials revealed that the men’s and women’s singles champions will each receive £3 million ($4 million) — an 11.1% increase from 2024’s winners’ purse.

All England Club responds to player demands

Deborah Jevans, Chair of the All England Club, emphasized the importance of listening to players' concerns when determining the prize structure:

We’re immensely proud of the fact that if you look back 10 years, you can see the increase over that period and 7% this year,” said Jevans. “We have listened to the players, we have engaged with the players.”

First-round losers in singles action will also benefit from the increase, pocketing £66,000 — a 10% bump compared to 2024.

Prize Money Growth Over the Years

  • 2025 Total Pool: £53.5 million ($73 million)
  • 2024 Total Pool: £50 million
  • 2015 Total Pool: £26.75 million

This continued growth aligns with the growing calls from players for a more equitable share of revenues from tennis’s most prestigious tournaments.

While the record payouts are grabbing headlines, Jevans highlighted broader concerns within the sport:

“The focus on just the prize money at four events, the Grand Slams, does not get to the heart of what the challenge is for tennis,” she said.
The issue in tennis lies in the absence of an offseason that players desire, coupled with the rising number of injuries they are reporting.”

She added that Wimbledon remains open to dialogue with both the ATP and WTA tours to explore solutions for player welfare and scheduling.

Key Dates and Historic Firsts

  • Tournament Dates: June 30 – July 13, 2025
  • Venue: All England Lawn Tennis Club, London
  • Notable Change: For the first time ever, electronic line-calling will completely replace line judges, marking a new chapter in Wimbledon’s commitment to modernizing the game.

Global Prestige and Player Incentives

Wimbledon remains one of the four Grand Slam tournaments that continue to set benchmarks in the tennis world — not only for tradition and prestige, but now for financial reward. As the 2025 edition looms, players and fans alike can anticipate a tournament that balances historical reverence with forward-thinking innovation.
