Wolves 0-3 Nottingham Forest: Woods on target as Forest dispatch hosts to earn sixth consecutive Premier League win

Nottingham Forest delivered an exemplary counter-attacking display, securing a 3-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers, marking their sixth consecutive win in the Premier League.
Vítor Pereira aimed to maintain his unbeaten streak as Wolves' manager, having succeeded Gary O’Neil, but the high-flying Forest team had other plans, quickly taking the lead within seven minutes.
As has been their trademark, Forest launched a counter-attack led by former Wolves player Morgan Gibbs-White. Despite the discontent from the Molineux crowd, he passed to Anthony Elanga, who returned the ball, allowing the 24-year-old to score and quiet the home supporters.
The Old Gold responded positively to the setback, creating several chances to equalize, yet their finishing let them down repeatedly.
Initially, Hwang Hee-chan penetrated the box, but Jørgen Strand Larsen failed to convert his effort. Subsequently, Rodrigo Gomes struck a powerful volley that was deflected by Matz Sels, who also thwarted Strand Larsen’s close-range header.
Wolves lamented their missed opportunities as Nuno Espírito Santo’s side conceded a second goal just before halftime.
In another swift counter, Callum Hudson-Odoi advanced into the Wolves' area and set up Chris Wood, who netted his 12th Premier League goal of the season.
Forest had not lost a match after leading 2-0 at halftime since September 2022, while Wolves last overturned such a deficit in January 2020, suggesting a favorable outlook for the visitors.
However, Wolves did not capitulate easily; the match became more open after the break, but Sels and Nikola Milenković held strong for the Reds, who possess the joint-best defensive record in the league.
Just after the hour mark, Forest capitalized on their earlier momentum and nearly secured their victory when Elliott Anderson's shot narrowly missed the target.
The team's excellent game management enabled them to comfortably navigate the remainder of the match, even adding a third goal deep into stoppage time, as substitutes James Ward-Prowse and Taiwo Awoniyi worked together to allow Awoniyi to score into an unguarded net.
With this victory, the visitors achieved their 12th Premier League win of the season, bringing their total points to 40, which places them level with second-placed Arsenal, although they remain behind on goal difference.
Conversely, Nuno's previous team, Wolves, finds themselves just above the relegation zone solely due to goal difference, and a challenging series of upcoming fixtures highlights the significant challenges that await new manager Pereira.
