Wolves 1-0 Burnley: Hosts win by lone goal thanks to Hee Chan's strike

On a chilly winter night in the West Midlands, the action slowly picked up pace. The Clarets, despite initial struggles, started making inroads with attempts from Josh Brownhill and Luca Koleosho hitting roadblocks.
Vincent Kompany’s squad had a bright moment in the game amid a tense atmosphere at Molineux. Charlie Taylor's shot soared over the bar, prompting a response from Gary O’Neil’s team. James Trafford had to tip Pablo Sarabia’s shot over, and the Spaniard narrowly missed another chance from Nélson Semedo’s cross.
However, Burnley faced a setback when Koleosho had to leave the field due to injury, making way for Johann Berg Gudmundsson. Gudmundsson almost made an immediate impact, setting up Jay Rodriguez whose shot was saved by Wolves' Dan Bentley. Bentley then pulled off an impressive save to deny Brownhill's follow-up strike.
Yet, defensive errors from O'Shea and Berge proved costly for Kompany's side. Matheus Cunha set up Hwang, who scored clinically, breaking the deadlock just before halftime.
In the second half, O’Neil’s team dominated and had chances to extend their lead, notably when Mario Lemina headed over from Sarabia’s free-kick. Sarabia kept pressing, and Trafford had to make another save from his set pieces.
As the game neared its end, Burnley sensed an opportunity, with Vitinho narrowly missing a chance to equalize with a long-range shot. Despite their spirited effort, Burnley faced yet another defeat away from home, continuing a run of four consecutive losses on the road in the league.
Their previous impressive victory over Sheffield United now seems distant, contrasting sharply with Wolves’ sense of relief. The Black Country club avoided a third consecutive top-flight defeat for the first time since October 2022, ending a streak of seven league games without a clean sheet at Molineux.
