Wolves 2-4 Bournemouth: Kluivert nets hat-trick of penalties as Cherries come out on top in six-goal thriller

Wolverhampton Wanderers experienced a sudden end to their four-match unbeaten streak, suffering a 4-2 defeat to AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League at Molineux Stadium. Justin Kluivert made history by becoming the first player in the Premier League to score a hat-trick of penalty kicks.
Prior to Bournemouth's visit, matches involving Wolves had produced the highest number of goals (48) in the league this season, surpassing all other teams.
The Cherries, eager to bounce back from consecutive losses, were presented with an ideal chance to regain their form when Toti Gomes fouled Evanilson in the penalty area just a minute into the match.
Kluivert confidently converted the penalty, allowing Bournemouth to take an early lead, although it was short-lived.
Wolves responded swiftly, equalizing just 2 minutes and 16 seconds later when Jorgen Strand Larsen headed in Matheus Cunha’s precise cross within the first five minutes of play.
The match quickly turned into a thrilling back-and-forth contest, with Bournemouth regaining the lead shortly thereafter. A well-coordinated attack ended with Marcus Tavernier providing a pass to the advancing left-back Milos Kerkez, who scored with a powerful shot into the top of the net in the eighth minute.
Things worsened for Wolves when Jose Sa inadvertently fouled Evanilson, resulting in a second penalty for Bournemouth.
Kluivert stepped up once more, delivering a powerful shot into the bottom-left corner. Both teams continued to attack vigorously, but Wolves' defense appeared particularly vulnerable as Kluivert and Evanilson created opportunities in the final third.
In the second half, Bournemouth maintained their offensive pressure while Wolves struggled to find their rhythm. Even after the hosts managed to reduce the deficit momentarily, misfortune struck again.
Strand Larsen clinically capitalized on a rare opportunity for the hosts within two minutes, leading to another collision between Sa and Evanilson in the goal area. This incident enabled Kluivert to secure a remarkable hat-trick of penalties, reinstating the Cherries' two-goal lead.
This outcome represents a setback for O’Neil’s team, which now finds itself slipping back into the relegation zone, burdened by the league's poorest defensive record, having conceded 32 goals, jeopardizing their Premier League status.
Nevertheless, Bournemouth continues to find success at Wolves, achieving a third consecutive Premier League victory at Molineux as Andoni Iraola guides his squad toward the upper half of the table.
