Women's FA Cup: Chelsea, Spurs survive scares; Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd advance comfortably

Chelsea defeated West Ham in extra time, thanks to goals from Erin Cuthbert and Sjoeke Nusken.

The Blues enjoyed all of the early pressure at Kingsmeadow, with Lauren James looking lively in attack.

Against the run of play, the Hammers took the lead as Viviane Asseyi raced in and finished with style.

After the break, the west London side pushed for an equaliser, which they eventually got with 20 minutes remaining through Mia Fishel.

It ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, and since there were no replays, the match went into extra time.

Emma Hayes' side were once again the better side, and their pressure paid off on 101 minutes when Cuthbert headed in.

Nusken then scored Chelsea's third goal just a few seconds before halftime in extra time.

Tottenham recovered from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Sheffield United 3-2, putting them in the FA Cup fifth round draw.

Against the odds, Sheffield United took the lead after 13 minutes when Sophie Haywood scored.

In the second half, the Blades added a second goal thanks to a clever finish from Jessica Sigworth.

But the north London side rallied, with Bethany England demonstrating her class with a rifled effort on 69 minutes.

With 10 minutes remaining, England added a second goal when she converted a penalty.

Spurs then completed their stunning comeback in the sixth minute of added time, with Rosella Ayane chipping the onrushing goalkeeper.

Arsenal won 5-1 against Watford thanks to a strong attacking performance.

Alessia Russo got Arsenal off to a flying start by reacting quickly inside the penalty area and poking in from close range.

Just five minutes later, the Gunners doubled their lead when Lia Wälti curled a beautiful first-time effort.

After the break, Stina Blackstenius scored the third goal for the north Londoners.

With 13 minutes remaining, Watford pulled one back through Michelle Agyemang, who scored against her parent club.

Arsenal's three-goal lead was restored late on when Amanda Ilestedt scored their fourth and Frida Maanum added her fifth.

Jill Roord was the hero of the hour, scoring twice to help Manchester City beat Durham 4-0.

Laura Coombs volleyed in from inside the area to give City the lead after just seven minutes.

Jill Roord then doubled the Super League team's lead with a stunning shot from 25 yards out.

Roord struck again in the second half, chipping the goalkeeper after excellent work from Lauren Hemp.

City scored their fourth late on when Mary Fowler came off the bench to seal the victory.

Manchester United advanced to the fifth round of the Women's FA Cup with a convincing 5-0 win over Newcastle.

The hosts impressed in the first half, with Ella Toone giving United the lead on 28 minutes with a thunderous effort from the edge of the box.

Just before halftime, Nikita Parris scored from close range to double the Red Devils' lead.

After the break, Parris scored her second goal of the day, capitalising on a defensive error and poking in from two yards out.

Marc Skinner's side advanced to the fifth round late on when Rachel Williams scored a fourth goal, reacting first after her initial effort struck the crossbar.

Melvine Malard added a fifth layer of icing to the cake.

The draw for the fifth round will take place on Monday January 15.
