Wood Shines as Nottingham Forest Ends Winless Run with Victory Over Crystal Palace

Nottingham Forest finally ended their seven-match winless streak at home, thanks to Chris Wood's crucial second-half goal that secured a 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace at the City Ground.
Coming into the match, Crystal Palace, struggling at the start of their Premier League season with three draws and four losses, were looking to climb out of the relegation zone. The visitors nearly struck early, as Eberechi Eze's curling effort narrowly missed the target. Meanwhile, Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson tested Palace keeper Dean Henderson, who pulled off a crucial save.
Both teams had promising chances in the first half, with Eddie Nketiah rattling the woodwork for Palace and Ryan Yates seeing his header bounce off the far post for Forest. Callum Hudson-Odoi also delivered a dangerous cross late in the half, but Wood couldn’t direct his shot past Henderson.
In the second half, Matz Sels, Forest's goalkeeper, made several key saves to keep the hosts in the game, particularly denying Eze twice. Forest then capitalized on their momentum, with Chris Wood breaking the deadlock in the 65th minute, scoring from 20 yards out after Henderson failed to keep the shot out.
Despite Palace's attempts to level the game, Forest held firm, with Sels making a crucial late save to deny Jeffrey Schlupp. The victory propelled Forest to eighth in the table, while Palace’s winless start to the season continued, putting further pressure on manager Oliver Glasner.
