World champions Spain top FIFA women's rankings for first time

The reigning world champions have become the fourth team to achieve the top position in the rankings, joining the ranks of the United States, Germany, and Sweden.
Following their victory over England in the World Cup final, Spain has climbed four places to secure the second spot. Their exceptional performances in the UEFA Women's Nations League have ultimately propelled them to claim the coveted first place.
Spain emerged as the leaders of their group, securing five victories, including two wins against Sweden. This outstanding performance has granted them a spot in the Nations League Finals, scheduled for February, where they will face the Netherlands in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, the United States has risen to second place in the rankings, closely followed by France in third position. France has also qualified for the Nations League Finals and will compete against Germany in the other semifinal match.
European champions England, unfortunately, missed out on an Olympic berth in Paris and currently hold the fourth position.
Sweden, on the other hand, has dropped to fifth place after finishing third in their Nations League group, with only two wins out of six games.
Furthermore, the women's rankings have expanded to include a record-breaking 192 nations, with the addition of Central African Republic and Macau.
Additionally, North Korea has secured the ninth spot, while American Samoa, Madagascar, and Bahamas have reappeared on the list.
