WSL top scorer Miedema joins Man City on three-year deal

Dutch striker Vivianne Miedema (27) has officially signed a three-year deal with Manchester City, as confirmed by the Women's Super League (WSL) club on Friday.
This move comes after Miedema, the all-time leading scorer in the league, departed Arsenal at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.
During her seven-year tenure with Arsenal, Miedema secured four trophies and scored a total of 80 goals in the WSL.
Despite her success, she faced challenges in the last two seasons due to injuries, including an ACL rupture in December 2022 that required surgery and caused her to miss the Women's World Cup last year.
Miedema's decision to join City was driven by their shared ambition to win league titles.
She expressed her desire to play alongside the best players in the world, a goal she believes City can help her achieve.
With 95 goals in 115 appearances, Miedema is also the leading scorer for the Netherlands national team.
\Her move to City will reunite her with Dutch teammates Jill Roord and Kerstin Casparij.
City's head coach Gareth Taylor expressed his excitement to work with Miedema, emphasizing her status as a top talent and a valuable addition to the team.
