WTA roundup: Chinese duo head to Austin quarters, Haddad Maia beaten by Boulter

Yue Yuan (25) of China, the No. 8 seed, along with her compatriot Yafan Wang (29), achieved straight-set victories on Wednesday during the second round of the ATX Open in Austin, Texas.
Yuan secured a 6-3, 7-6(5) triumph against Taylor Townsend from the United States, while Wang eliminated Emiliana Arango from Colombia with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Despite being down 4-1 in the second set, Yuan made a remarkable comeback and forced a tiebreaker, where she dominated with a 5-0 lead.
Wang displayed exceptional resilience in her victory, saving nine out of ten break points. She will now face Yuan in the quarter-finals.
In other matches, Anhelina Kalinina, the top-seeded player from Ukraine, defeated Camila Osorio from Colombia with a score of 6-1, 6-2. Diane Parry, the fifth seed from France, triumphed over Russia's Kamilla Rakhimova with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Moving on to the Cymbiotika San Diego Open, Katie Boulter from Great Britain staged a remarkable comeback to upset second-seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia from Brazil with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the second round. Despite nine double faults, Boulter advanced to the quarter-finals.
In another match on Wednesday, top-seeded American Jessica Pegula had a comfortable victory over Germany's Jule Niemeier, winning 6-0, 6-4.
Meanwhile, Daria Saville from Australia faced a setback in the first set but fought back to defeat Tatjana Maria from Germany with a score of 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-2.
Maria missed an opportunity to win the match at 4-5 in the second set, and Saville capitalized on the momentum by winning seven consecutive points in the subsequent tiebreaker.
Marta Kostyuk, the sixth seed from Ukraine, secured a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Australian player Taylah Preston.
