WTA roundup: Jabuer cruises past Raducanu to reach quarter-finals at Abu Dhabi

Ons Jabeur, the second seed, advanced to her first quarterfinal match on tour this year, defeating Emma Raducanu 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday at the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open in the UAE.

Tunisian Jabeur won 82.8 percent of her first serve points (24 of 29), compared to 53.1 percent (26 of 49) for Great Britain's Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion.

Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil defeated Magda Linette of Poland 7-6(6), 6-7(1), 6-1 in 3 hours and 42 minutes, the longest match on tour this year. Haddad Maia saved nine out of eleven break points and converted four of thirteen opportunities.

In other Round of 16 matches, No. 7 Daria Kasatkina of Russia defeated 19-year-old American Ashlyn Krueger 6-3, 7-5, and Romania's Sorana Cirstea beat No. 3 seed Maria Sakkari of Greece 6-2, 6-1.

Transylvania Open

Top seed Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands defeated France's Alize Cornet 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 in the Round of 16 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Nuria Parrizas Diaz of Spain defeated Russia's third seed Anna Blinkova in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. Parrizas Diaz converted 7 of 13 break points compared to 4 of 12 for Blinkova.

In the Round of 16, eighth seed Ana Bogdan of Romania defeated Erika Andreeva of Russia 6-4, 6-4.
